Lisa Phillips, MSW, MPH (candidate) - Executive Director

Lisa Phillips was appointed Acting Executive Director in August 4, 2003, after the unexpected demise of Dr. Roland J. Liebert. On December 2004, SCoSA Board of Directors unanimously approved Lisa’s appointment as Executive Director. She has been employed at SCoSA since May, 2002. As Information and Evaluation Director, she gained knowledge of the organization’s strategic plan and operational activities since inception. In addition to her degrees from the University of South Florida (USF), she has a Graduate Certificate in Planning, Evaluation and Accountability from the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute (FMHI). She is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management from the USF, Department of Government and International Affairs-College of Arts & Science. While obtaining her degrees, Lisa worked for two years as a FMHI graduate research assistant, concentrating on community based systems-of-care evaluation processes. She worked as a clinician for those impacted by substance abuse at First Step, Inc.’s Mothers and Infants Program and the Child Development Center. In the 10 years Lisa has been living in Sarasota, she has been active in community building and helping alcohol and drug addicted persons as a face and voice for the recovering community.

Lisa is happily married to Dave, the “mother” of six and the proud grandmother of four. Her happiest moments are those times when she can share the gifts she has been so freely given.
